Vitor Pereira issues update on Arsenal transfer target – Mikel Arteta needs to pay attention

Arsenal will be hoping to build upon their 3-0 victory over Dinamo Zagreb in the Champions League as they face Wolves at Molineux.

Arsenal have shown glimpses in recent matches that they are beginning to regain their cutting edge in attack, Martinelli and Trossard’s impact has impressed Mikel Arteta.

The Gunners boss knows however that his side are still short in attacking options and Arteta has sent a strong message to the board over the need for January reinforcements.

Arsenal are monitoring the contract situation of Matheus Cunha and face the Brazilian striker in their next Premier League encounter. His manager Vitor Pereira has given an update on the versatile forward.

Vitor Pereira is adamant that Matheus Cunha is ‘not for sale’

Speaking at his pre-match press conference ahead of Wolves v Arsenal, Vitor Pereira has presented a strong stance to any clubs potentially interested in signing Matheus Cunha.

Pereira stated: “I don’t know if there have been any bids for him, this is a question for the club but he is my player and I think he is not for sale, this is the information from the club and he’s committed with us.”

Pereira had accused Cunha of being ‘distracted’ during their last outing against Chelsea but the Wolves boss has declared he has spoken to his player and the situation is now resolved.

Pereira has claimed: “He knows what I want from him as a captain. We had a conversation and everything is solved, he’s ready for the game, committed with us and ready for the team.”

The Wolves boss has also stated that he believes it is ‘important’ for his club to keep Cunha this January window.

Cunha outperforms Kai Havertz in a number of attacking stats this season

The versatility of Cunha is certainly something that will be attracting Mikel Arteta to the player given that he could fill in for a number of positions in the Arsenal system.

Cunha has been in fine form for Wolves this season and already has ten league goals to his name with four assists. He has also been impressive in a number of other key attacking metrics.

Whilst Havertz has performed well for Arsenal this season on the whole, Cunha could bring another dimension to Arsenal’s attack with his ability to beat defenders and create situations out of nothing.

A deal seems to be difficult to achieve this month but Arsenal are certainly keeping tabs on the Brazilian and are clear in what qualities he would bring to the side.
