Arsenal have been credited with interest in one Premier League winger ahead of the summer transfer window.

Andrea Berta’s objective is clear after taking on the job of Arsenal’s sporting director, with the Gunners crying out for additional firepower in attack.

It’s understood that Berta is a big fan of Viktor Gyokeres, whose links to Arsenal have grown as the summer fast approaches.

Though Mikel Arteta is desperate for a new number nine, that’s not the only position that is needed in the front line, with at least one top-class winger also desired.

Arsenal given Anthony Gordon transfer opportunity

Leandro Trossard’s future is uncertain, which is one contributing factor to links between the Gunners and a series of wingers.

Arsenal are eyeing Rodrygo of Real Madrid, not only as a possible Trossard replacement, but for competition for Gabriel Martinelli, too.

Rodrygo’s transfer stance at Real Madrid is unclear, but the Brazilian isn’t the only wide player Arsenal are said to be admirers of, as The i Paper has explained.

It’s been reported that Newcastle United could be open to letting Anthony Gordon leave in a bid to get ahead of the curve with regard to financial rulings.

The report claims that despite Gordon penning a long-term contract, the former Everton star is considered a sale that ‘makes most sense’ in comparison to Newcastle’s other ‘crown jewels’.

Alexander Isak is a dream target for Arsenal, but the chances of pulling off a transfer are incredibly slim.

That being said, it appears that the Gunners aren’t ready to abandon their work in the North East just yet.

Arsenal and Chelsea have been credited with interest in Gordon, who is said to have a price tag of £80m over his head.

Interestingly, Gordon was on Arsenal’s transfer radar in January, but was regarded as a ‘last resort’ by journalist David Ornstein.

Gordon would be good competition for Gabriel Martinelli on one condition

Signing a Premier League-proven right-footed left-winger is a no-brainer for Arsenal, but there is one thing to consider.

Though Gordon could be the missing piece to Arteta getting the best he possibly can out of Martinelli, who has had a hot-and-cold campaign, his price tag will need altering.

Arsenal must not be caught out by the unseen Premier League tax on players, with it perplexing to consider that Gordon is a forward worthy of an £80m asking price.

While the winger’s talent and suitability to Arsenal are unquestionable, losing a resounding chunk of the transfer budget on him could be fatal.

Distributing the finances well this summer is key, as Arteta and Berta have a lot of work to do in a variety of positions to ensure the squad is as close as it can be to challenging for silverware.
