Dominik Szoboszlai was the match-winner when Arsenal last faced Liverpool, but now, he faces an even greater challenge than before.
Szoboszlai’s outrageous free kick decided the direction of the points when Arsenal lost to Liverpool at Anfield on matchday three of the season.
At the time, the reigning Premier League champions sent a statement with a strong start to the season, but since then, things have hugely slipped.
Ahead of matchday 21’s clash between Arsenal and Liverpool, the Reds sit 14 points below Mikel Arteta’s side.
Despite the sizeable gap between the two clubs, Szoboszlai wasn’t prepared to gush over the Gunners.

Dominik Szoboszlai shares what he thinks of Arsenal ahead of Liverpool clash
Liverpool know that Arsenal will be seeking revenge when they visit the Emirates on Thursday night.
While the Gunners head into the match as favourites, with pundits backing Arsenal to beat Liverpool comfortably, Szoboszlai took time to remind Arteta’s side who they’re facing.
Speaking to Sky Sports ahead of the fixture, the Liverpool midfielder, who has been a standout this season, issued the following message.
“We are not playing the Champions, they are playing the Champions,” Szoboszlai said.
| Position | Team | Played MP | Won W | Drawn D | Lost L | For GF | Against GA | Diff GD | Points Pts |
| 1 | 20 | 15 | 3 | 2 | 40 | 14 | 26 | 48 | |
| 2 | 20 | 13 | 3 | 4 | 44 | 18 | 26 | 42 | |
| 3 | 20 | 13 | 3 | 4 | 33 | 24 | 9 | 42 | |
| 4 | 20 | 10 | 4 | 6 | 32 | 28 | 4 | 34 |
“We know they are one of the favourites this year, an unbelievable team, really good players, but we shouldn’t forget about City, Villa, who are doing very good.
“We don’t play against the Champions, they play against the Champions.”
The Hungarian lauded the Gunners as an ‘unbelievable team’, but put Thursday’s hosts in their place, setting the scene ahead of the blockbuster clash.
Szoboszlai is a huge fan of one Arsenal star
A lot has changed since the defeat on matchday three at Anfield, the most notable change being Liverpool’s decline.
After seeing Liverpool’s set-piece record, I’m __% confident Arsenal will beat Arne Slot’s side.
Fill the blanks!
Since then, Arne Slot’s side have lost six times in the Premier League, while Arsenal have only suffered one other defeat.
Szoboszlai is one member of the Liverpool squad who is very wary of Arsenal’s threat, being an admirer of David Raya.
After the clash at Anfield, Szoboszlai hailed Raya as ‘unbelievable’, showing appreciation for Arsenal’s goalkeeper.
Raya won’t want to concede another freak goal against Liverpool on Thursday night, giving him an incentive to keep a much-desired clean sheet.
