Mikel Arteta faces another Arsenal injury crisis with seven fresh issues including Leandro Trossard

Injuries have been a key talking point for Arsenal this season as key absences have stung the side in their pursuit of the Premier League title.

Mikel Arteta had been hopeful of taking the side that one step further – following back-to-back second-place finishes.

However, by the time that November international break rolled around, the Gunners sat nine points behind league leaders Liverpool and with work to do.

Martin Odegaard’s injury has been one major factor disrupting the season so far, though he has since made a return to action.

Smaller issues for Arsenal stars have also seen them in and out of the team or playing far from their best in matches.

As the resumption of Premier League action awaits, there are still plenty of injury concerns for the north London outfit to worry about.

Latest Arsenal injury news, updates and return dates

Arsenal are currently facing seven potential injury absences once they return from the international break, with some new doubts creeping into the squad.

Leandro Trossard

The latest issue for Arsenal on the injury front comes in the shape of Leandro Trossard, who was injured playing for Belgium in their defeat to Israel in UEFA Nations League action.

The forward was substituted during the match with what appeared to be a contact injury, rather than a muscular problem.

There will be some hope that the 29-year-old can shake it off in time to play against Nottingham Forest at the Emirates Stadium over the weekend.

Ben White

Added to the injury table over the international break, Ben White has had surgery for a knee injury that has been causing him problems.

The defender has been in and out of the side in recent weeks due to it, but with the procedure now done there are hopes that he can return soon.

The current time frame for a return are unknown, though the right-back has played through the pain in weeks before.

Bukayo Saka

Bukayo Saka withdrew from the England squad through injury due to an issue that he picked up against Chelsea in the final match before the international break.

The star forward was unable to complete the match and the current return date is unknown until a clearer update is given.

There will, however, be hope that Saka is available for Arsenal in their first match back against Nottingham Forest.

Declan Rice

Midfielder Declan Rice was also absent from the England squad after suffering an apparent foot injury in the week prior.

The 25-year-old missed out on the clash against Inter Milan but was able to play against Chelsea – though he couldn’t finish the match.

Reports stated that Declan Rice suffered a broken foot, though no update has been given over the severity of the lay-off.

Riccardo Calafiori

Riccardo Calafiori suffered a knee injury during the tie with Shakhtar Donetsk in the Champions League – resulting in him missing a few weeks of action.

He wasn’t called up to the Italy squad over the international break, though Calafiori was spotted on at the Gladiator 2 premiere without any strapping or brace.

It could suggest that he may be available to face Nottingham Forest in the first game back for Arsenal.

Takehiro Tomiyasu

Unfortunately for Arsenal, Takehiro Tomiyasu has been rather injury-prone over recent seasons, struggling to make an impact on the side with his availability.

The defender suffered a knee injury that has kept him out for the majority of the season so far, though he may be back after the break.

Kieran Tierney

Another defender who has been on the sidelines for a while is Kieran Tierney, who has been out since suffering a knee injury at Euro 2024 with Scotland.

It’s currently uncertain when he may return to action as he looks to bring himself to full fitness once again.

Arsenal’s upcoming fixtures and injury workload

While there are those big injury concerns, there is no time to be wasted in the hunt for the title as well as the chase for some silverware in other competitions.

Before the festive season, Arsenal have some huge games against a mixture of different opposition in very quick succession.

Some local rivalries await alongside teams at the bottom that will be looking to make it tough for the Gunners.

In the Champions League there are key clashes aplenty to aim for a place in the last 16 with a top-eight finish.

It will take a full squad to get them over the line in many of these ten games, one which will need to stay free of injuries.
