Viktor Gyokeres will miss Arsenal’s clash with Slavia Prague due to injury, Mikel Arteta has confirmed.

The Swede did not appear after the interval in Arsenal’s 2-0 win over Burnley, instantly sparking a feeling of anxiety among fans.

It was a dire shame as Gyokeres was impressing against Burnley before he was substituted, scoring his fourth Premier League goal of the season.

After Gyokeres’ masterclass against Atletico Madrid, the striker would’ve loved to add to his Champions League tally when the Gunners face Slavia Prague, but that’s out of the question.

How Viktor Gyokeres is feeling about his injury

Ahead of the Champions League test in Prague, Arteta shared an update on Gyokeres’ injury, which is confirmed to be a muscular issue.

Though the Arsenal manager was coy, explaining that tests were ongoing, he did share an insight into how the summer signing is feeling behind the scenes.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Arteta revealed that Gyokeres is ‘very disappointed’ by his current fitness problem.

“He was very disappointed after the match with what he felt, but this is part of football,” Arteta said.

The boss went on to offer full support for Gyokeres, who could miss weeks if he has suffered a muscle strain.

“If he’s got something he’s going to have to deal with, we will help him to do that.

“As you said, he was in a really good moment, in a really good form, it’s very important for the team. But for tomorrow, we don’t have him, so that’s it.”

While Arteta is trying to remain positive, the manager made it known that he does carry some concern about the 27-year-old, in a rather ominous update.

“I am concerned because he hasn’t had many muscular issues, and he had to leave the pitch, and he was feeling something, and that’s obviously never a good sign,” Arteta said.

Arsenal are continuing to investigate the injury that Gyokeres has suffered, and as Arteta stated, it’s a rarity for the player.

Viktor Gyokeres’ injury history

It’s not only muscular injuries that Gyokeres doesn’t have experience with, but injuries in general.

After a turbulent 2024/25 season packed with key injuries, Arsenal signed the striker, knowing he was less prone to absences, but such hasn’t been able to be maintained.

Remarkably, as per Transfermarkt data, Gyokeres has missed only five games due to injury in his entire career.

The Swede’s longest injury lay-off was during the summer of 2024, when he missed 57 days due to a problem with his knee.

Gyokeres is experiencing lots of new experiences since joining Arsenal, and unfortunately, injuries are now a part of that.
