Arsenal were dealt a blow in their preparations for the new season after Carlos Cuesta announced his departure.
Mikel Arteta’s assistant manager was a popular figure in the Arsenal squad but Cuesta is set to join Parma as their new manager.
Arsenal face a tough start to the season and will want to have a settled dressing room in terms of new signings and Arteta’s coaching staff.
Arsenal fans want Santi Cazorla to return to the club in the vacant coaching role and former Gunners midfielder Adrian Clarke has given his backing to the Spanish magician.

Mikel Arteta told Santi Cazorla would be the ‘perfect appointment’
Speaking on the ‘Handbrake off’ podcast, former Gunners star Clarke has given his view on a potential Arsenal coaching return for Cazorla.
Clarke stated: “He’s [Cazorla] been in dressing rooms up until now, so he’ll be au fait with the current players and what they’re into and the banter and whatnot.
“Providing he’s got a passion for that role, then great. Because he’s got the credibility, got a lovely personality, he’s a smiley guy, isn’t he?
“That’ll bring good vibes. But you’ve also got to be good. You don’t just sort of walk into Arsenal as a coach without really wanting to be a top coach.
“So that’s the question mark for me, if that’s what he wants and he’s got that drive to learn and to really commit to the role, fantastic. Perfect appointment. But if he hasn’t I’ll gladly take an unknown who has got that.”
Jack Wilshere could make Arsenal return as Cazorla alternative
Arteta has opened the door for Cazorla’s return but should a move not materialise for the Real Oviedo midfielder, Jack Wilshere is another potential option.
Wilshere departed Norwich back in May after a short spell as interim manager and is now looking for the next step in his career.

Plymouth were interested in Wilshere when Miron Muslic left the club however, the League One side have chosen to appoint Tom Cleverley as their new boss.
It would be a fairytale return to the Emirates Stadium for the Hale End star but most importantly, he would bring with him a wealth of coaching experience and insight.
