The Premier League title race was blown wide open over the weekend following Arsenal and Manchester City’s latest round of results.
Mikel Arteta was gutted that his team conceded late on against Sunderland to drop two points away at the Stadium of Light over the weekend.

Meanwhile, Manchester City’s 3-0 win over Liverpool at the Etihad has meant they’ve closed the gap on the Gunners to four points heading into the international break.
Following a weekend full of action-packed drama, Wayne Rooney has been discussing the Premier League title race and just made an interesting claim about Arsenal.

Wayne Rooney prefers Arsenal over Man City and Liverpool
Rooney has admitted he would rather Arsenal win the Premier League than either Man City or Liverpool.
The Manchester United legend says he’s not keen on the Gunners, but it would be better than seeing the Red Devils’ other rivals win it again.
Rooney thinks City will be making Arsenal nervous, with the eight-time Premier League champions again breathing down their neck.
When asked which team he wants to win the Premier League this season, Rooney admitted on The Overlap Fan Debate: “I want Arsenal to win it this year.
“Obviously, I’d rather United or Everton. But I’d prefer Arsenal to City or Liverpool.”
However, other pundits are starting to back City, with Micah Richards suggesting Guardiola’s players are beginning to click into gear.
Meanwhile, Paul Scholes has made City slight favourites to win the league this season following their emphatic win over Liverpool.
Arsenal’s draw against Sunderland deserves proper context
Many Arsenal fans have been left gutted and angry that the team drew away at Sunderland, but the result deserves adequate context.
The Gunners had just won five games on the bounce and hadn’t conceded in any of their last five Premier League fixtures.

In between, they faced tough Champions League matches against Slavia Prague, Atletico Madrid and Olympiacos, winning all three.
Arteta has raised the standards at Arsenal this season, but ultimately, one tough result should not flip the narrative in the title race, especially among the Gunners’ own fanbase.
