Arsenal are running out of time to recruit in the January transfer window, not eased by their rivals Tottenham Hotspur making moves in the market.
The Gunners are expected to sign a forward this window, something that Mikel Arteta wants to happen.
Arteta made it clear that he wants a striker amid Arsenal’s injury concerns and several targets have been identified.
While Arsenal continue to hunt for reinforcements, activity has happened elsewhere in North London, as Spurs announced the signing of Kevin Danso.

Tottenham signing Kevin Danso has already failed his audition vs Arsenal
Deadline day of the January transfer window is fast approaching, putting pressure on clubs to recruit promptly.
As mentioned, Spurs have bolstered their ranks by signing centre-back Danso from RC Lens, hijacking Wolves’ deal for the Austrian.
While Ange Postecoglou will be delighted to see his backline strengthened, Arsenal fans shouldn’t be too nerved about their rival’s new signing, given how history has treated Danso.
Danso has faced Arsenal twice in his career and in that time, has been a part of the defence that has conceded seven goals to the Gunners, including humiliation last season.
In 2023/24, Arsenal beat Lens 6-0 at the Emirates, a game that Sofascore awarded Danso a 5.7 match rating in, as Spurs’ new signing was ripped apart by Arteta’s forwards.
Most notably, Danso was exposed as Gabriel Jesus scored, as the Brazilian floored the defender to score.
The game ended in a 6-0 win to Arsenal and Lens conceded five goals in the first half, making Danso’s memory of playing at the Emirates rather deflating.
Arsenal can hand Spurs a transfer blow
Spurs have got their man, acquiring Danso on loan from Lens in a much-needed winter swoop.
The Gunners will want to follow in their rival’s footsteps by welcoming a new face, something that could happen soon, according to reports.
Arsenal have made contact with Mathys Tel, who recently rejected Spurs’ offer to sign him, which could end in a rather humorous outcome if Arteta sweeps the Frenchman up.
Both Arsenal and Manchester United want to sign Tel, who is eager to leave Bayern Munich this winter if the right offer comes in.
Spurs weren’t what the 19-year-old wanted and now, Arsenal could take advantage of such to hand their rivals a bitter blow before deadline day.
