Arsenal have been linked with plenty of attacking talents in the January window so far as Mikel Arteta looks to add vital goals to his side.
After Arsenal’s 1-1 draw with Brighton, Arteta’s side failed to close the gap on Premier League leaders, Liverpool, who have a game in hand on the Gunners.
Four points to start 2025 is by no means a bad return for the Arsenal manager, but Gunners fans will know that attacking reinforcements could push their side even further towards Liverpool.
Bukayo Saka’s hamstring surgery has only served to emphasise the need for recruitment, with Arsenal’s long-standing interest in Evan Ferguson once again becoming a talking point.
However, the latest update on the Irish forward will leave Arteta wary that time may be running out if they wish to make a move for the Brighton man.

West Ham add Evan Ferguson to their transfer targets
According to the Telegraph, fellow London side West Ham have made Ferguson one of their targets to replace Michail Antonio, potentially disrupting Arsenal’s interest.
The report said: “It is understood West Ham have already made an enquiry about Ferguson.
“West Ham would ideally like to take players on loan this month, […] Ferguson has been touted for a loan move away from Brighton this month and it is believed the club would ideally like him to stay in the Premier League.”
West Ham and Brighton aligning in their preference for a loan move, Arsenal’s long-term interest in a permanent deal for Ferguson may make a move to the Emirates Stadium unlikely in January.
Whilst Arsenal may be disappointed in the update, the club should use this as a sign to move on from Ferguson and focus on other targets.
Arsenal should move on from Evan Ferguson interest
Before the January window opened, it was revealed that Arteta doesn’t think Ferguson is an upgrade for Arsenal, an opinion that the Spanish coach should remain strong in for now.
At only 20 years old, Ferguson could well become an upgrade on Gabriel Jesus or Kai Havertz in the future, but this January window should be about adding guaranteed quality to the Arsenal squad.
Ferguson has only scored seven goals in his last season and a half at Brighton, numbers that both Jesus and Havertz have either equaled or eclipsed this season already.
Eintracht Frankfurt haven’t received an approach for Omar Marmoush yet in January, with an attacker of his ability and history of goals makes him a much more attractive approach for Arsenal than Ferguson.
