Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has some fresh selection issues to contend with as he sweats over the fitness of defender Riccardo Calafiori.

The 22-year-old has struggled with consistency throughout much of the season, due to several different injury concerns he has picked up.

While he has recently returned to fitness, there has been a fresh problem as Riccardo Calafiori picked up a knee injury while on international duty with Italy.

It is uncertain just how bad the issue is, while a diagnosis is awaited on the problem for the Arsenal star in the weeks ahead.

With Mikel Arteta facing a possible selection dilemma, here’s a look at a few options who could replace Riccardo Calafiori.

Myles Lewis-Skelly

The most natural selection at left-back will be Myles Lewis-Skelly, who has been the go-to option there this season.

The youngster has impressed since coming through the Hale End academy, looking a natural fit at full-back, despite featuring largely in the midfield during the youth ranks.

Lewis-Skelly impressed on his England debut during the international break, scoring for the Three Lions in the match.

Given his performances, the 18-year-old is most likely to feature for Arteta.

Oleksandr Zinchenko

Another left-back option is Oleksandr Zinchenko, who has struggled for minutes in recent months but could earn himself a way back into the side.

The Ukrainian international recently impressed in a midfield capacity, though a place back in the side at left-back could create a chance for him.

Zinchenko would be the most likely to challenge Lewis-Skelly for a place in the Arsenal side, should he need to battle for it.

Kieran Tierney

The third option at left-back could be Kieran Tierney, who has received more minutes at left wing in recent weeks.

The defender has fallen out of favour and isn’t the preferred option in that position, but could still play a key role.

Should Arteta wish to use a full-back who can overlap and use width in his team, then Tierney may be the man he turns to.

With Tierney set to join Celtic in the summer, his time left in an Arsenal shirt appears to be coming towards a close.
