Bayern Munich teen Mathys Tel has emerged as a transfer target for several Premier League clubs, including Arsenal.

Mikel Arteta could see Tel as the perfect loan opportunity for the Gunners this winter, as the forward has made his desire to leave Bayern Munich known.

Having shown his quality at Bayern following his emergence, Tel has been struggling to secure minutes within Vincent Kompany’s attack, leading to a transfer request.

Arsenal are reported to be interested in Tel, whom they’ve admired for some time however, Manchester United, Tottenham, Chelsea and Aston Villa are also keen.

Arsenal target Mathys Tel backed to score 40 goals by former manager

Many Arsenal fans have called on Arteta to sign Tel, who at only 19 years old, has shown remarkable potential in Europe.

Last season, the versatile forward contributed to 16 goals for Bayern in all competitions, hinting at what he could offer to the Gunners.

While the 10 goals he scored himself last term are impressive for the teenager, Tel has actually been backed to score many, many more.

Relayed by the Bundesliga official website, former Bayern Munich manager Julian Nagelsmann once predicted that Tel will score ‘40 goals a season’ one day in the future.

“He’s very quick, strong with his body. He’s good at defending the ball with his back towards the opponent’s goal,” Nagelsmann said.

“I have the vision that he could score 40 goals [in a season like Robert Lewandowski] one day in the future.”

A move for the versatile attacker, who can play on the left, right and as a striker, would be a bold move by Arsenal, who could recruit one of the best upcoming talents in Europe this winter.

Arsenal must present an attractive project to Tel

After the teenager appeared to wave goodbye to Bayern following match day eight of the Champions League, it became clearer that Tel will be on the move this month.

Prior to the fixture, Kompany hinted at Tel’s transfer status, insisting that he selected the forward to start the game due to his ability alone.

It’s a remarkable opening for Arsenal but, the Gunners aren’t alone with their admiration and Tel has made it clear what he wants from his next club.

The Frenchman is reported to be opposed to joining Chelsea due to the already rife competition in Enzo Maresca’s squad.

With that in mind, the Gunners must offer the teen an attractive project to become a part of, and as a goalscorer is needed right now, there’s certainly an opening in the starting XI.

As the race heats up, it will be fascinating to see where Tel ends up, with deadline day fast approaching.
