Arsenal are facing competition to get some of their biggest deals over the line this summer, as pressure mounts in the market.

We are just one week into the summer transfer window, and the Gunners are yet to get their first summer signing through the door.

That’s not to say that work isn’t being done behind the scenes by Andrea Berta and his recruitment department, though.

Arsenal are working hard to land some new players, as Martin Zubimendi is set to join for £51 million, while talks are advancing with Kepa Arrizabalaga over a switch from Chelsea.

The search for a centre-forward and a left winger continues, but Arsenal also want to sign a right-wing option this summer.

However, for one £60 million star, they face some competition from their near neighbours, Tottenham.

Tottenham join the race to sign Bryan Mbeumo this summer transfer window

Plenty of options have been linked with a transfer to the Emirates Stadium this summer, the latest of those is Bryan Mbeumo.

Arsenal have held an interest in Mbeumo for some time now, but have yet to make their own move for the Cameroonian international.

There is a growing feeling that the winger could leave Brentford this summer, following another impressive Premier League campaign.

While the Gunners have been in the mix, Mbeumo has made Manchester United his priority, though that is subject to the clubs agreeing on a deal, with Arsenal waiting in the wings in case something happens.

However, there could be even more competition as The Mirror reports that Tottenham could now be in the mix.

It’s claimed that Spurs want to sign the 25-year-old, who is valued at £60 million, if Thomas Frank ends up taking over as their head coach.

That is looking more likely, following Ange Postecoglou’s sacking, creating a chance for the pair to reunite in North London.

Arsenal will be hopeful that the move isn’t possible, opening up a chance for them to swoop in instead.

What Thomas Frank has said about Bryan Mbeumo

If there is anyone who knows a thing or two about Bryan Mbeumo, it is his manager, Thomas Frank.

The pair have been working together since 2019, with the rise to the Premier League coinciding with some of his own good form.

Over the last season, Mbeumo managed to score 20 goals, another impressive landmark for a star in a mid-table side.

Combining with Yoane Wissa to score plenty of goals, Frank praised the pair at the end of the season, stating: “That’s an incredible achievement from the two of them.

“All praise due to the two of them for the hard work, how much they push, and then of course to my staff, and then I think a little bit to the way we play.”

Given that no Arsenal player managed double figures for goals this season, it’s clear that adding someone with the threat of Mbeumo to the side could help them.

However, with so many positions to focus on and plenty of spinning plates to deal with, it may be tough to prioritise the winger while looking at other stars.
