Andrea Berta could be about to make a catastrophic transfer error at Arsenal

Right now, it appears unlikely that Arsenal will make changes in the January transfer window, but rumours are doing the rounds.

Arsenal’s work in the summer equipped Mikel Arteta’s squad beyond the Spaniard’s wildest dreams.

It therefore makes sense that Andrea Berta doesn’t engage much in the January window, as there’s not a lot of change needed before the end of the season.

That being said, it’s not just incomings that Arsenal fans are focused on, but exits too, with Ben White the latest to make the headlines.

Fill in the blank: Mikel Arteta should push Arsenal to sign a ___________ in January…

What is Arsenal’s most pressing issue for January?

It would be a huge mistake if Andrea Berta let Ben White join Everton

Arsenal are reportedly open to letting White leave the club soon, which is unsurprising given his decline in game time.

That doesn’t, however, mean that the defender should be allowed to leave this winter, with so much work yet to be done across the 2025/26 calendar.

Everton are reportedly wanting to sign White, which follows on from Manchester City’s reported interest in the Arsenal star.

The idea of Everton signing White this month might be encouraging for the Toffees, but not for Arsenal, who need to keep hold of the 28-year-old until the summer.

How much money should Arsenal demand for Ben White if Mikel Arteta decides to sell him?

In the Arsenal squad, there are few players who offer what White does, linking so well with Bukayo Saka and his other teammates.

Amid the race for the Premier League title, allowing a player as experienced as White to leave would be a huge mistake, particularly when considering the state of Arteta’s full-back options right now.

Riccardo Calafiori and Piero Hincapie are out injured, and Myles Lewis-Skelly has been so poor recently, leaving only Jurrien Timber and White.

Berta must put Arsenal’s season first and ignore interest in White, whose status is best reviewed at the end of the campaign.

Arsenal have already planned for White’s eventual departure

There’s a problem in that it’s not just up to Berta, as it’s understood that White isn’t happy with his game time at Arsenal.

An unhappy player changes the stance, but the Gunners have planned for that.

Fill the blanks, I would feel ______ if Tino Livramento replaced Ben White at Arsenal

Arsenal have shown an interest in Tino Livramento as a possible successor to White if he were to leave.

My opinion, however, stays the same, changing a position as short-staffed as Arsenal’s right back would be detrimental, whether a player of Livramento’s calibre came in or not.

Right now, Arteta has the perfect means to rotate between Timber and White, two full-backs who would start for most teams in the country.

With the need to win silverware at its highest, altering a balanced squad could end in disaster.
