Arsenal are expected to welcome a new player to bolster Mikel Arteta’s squad on deadline day, with talks ongoing for one target.
The Gunners are perhaps not thinking about their front line after scoring five against Manchester City however, the highs of the result mustn’t distract the club from deadline day necessities.
Arteta has already pleaded for a forward signing, with the Arsenal manager making it known that he’s unsatisfied with the current attacking depth of his squad.
With several transfer targets identified, Arsenal have limited time to pull off a winter purchase but, one option remains open.

Arsenal remain in contact with Bayern Munich striker Mathys Tel on deadline day
Strikers seem to be the area that Arteta wants to improve in, with Arsenal’s bid for Ollie Watkins telling of such.
As well as the Premier League forward, the Gunners have shown an interest in Mathys Tel, who wants to leave Bayern Munich this winter.
Arsenal have made contact with Bayern for Tel but, the deal remains a difficult one to pull off due to the Bavarian club’s demands.
As well as Bayern wanting to insert a purchase option in a loan deal for the 19-year-old, Tel is reported to favour Manchester United after already rejecting Tottenham.
While Old Trafford is reported to be the teenager’s desired destination, the race is not over, according to reports from Florian Plettenberg.
The Sky Sports journalist revealed on the morning of deadline day that Bayern have still ‘not reached an agreement’ over Tel’s future but, insisted that Arsenal remain present.
“As of 8:22 a.m. German time, FC Bayern have not reached an agreement with any club regarding the transfer of Mathys Tel. There is still some time left. Arsenal are also in talks with Bayern.”
Plettenberg went on to explain why the deal is a difficult one for clubs to pull off, despite Tel being an attractive target for several Premier League sides.

“Bayern still want to sell him or let him go with an obligation to buy, but it continues to depend on the right offer. There should be no panic sale, which is why Bayern have not ruled out the possibility of him staying. More talks with clubs are scheduled in the next 1–3 hours.”
Arsenal’s links to Tel are not going away, making for a possible narrative to watch as the hours go by on deadline day.
Mathys Tel would be a good fit for Mikel Arteta
Being a forward of immense versatility, playing on the left and centrally in attack, Tel could be the perfect loan capture for Arteta.
The 19-year-old wants game time, and rightly so, having already informed Europe of his quality during his rise at Bayern.
| Position | Apps | Goals | Assists |
| Centre-forward | 33 | 5 | 1 |
| Left winger | 33 | 7 | 5 |
| Right winger | 13 | 4 | 1 |
Tel’s desire to leave the Bundesliga club stems from his lack of minutes this season, something that Arsenal could certainly offer the Frenchman amid Arteta’s attacking injury crisis.
The conditions of a possible deal are difficult, with it unclear what Arsenal want from Tel regarding a loan and a future purchase but, in terms of a goalscoring forward, the teen certainly fits the bill.
