Arsenal are set to lose one of Mikel Arteta’s assistants this summer, as Carlos Cuesta prepares to bid farewell.
In a vastly impressive step forward in his managerial career, Cuesta is in line to become the manager of Parma.
The Italian side, who finished 16th in Serie A last season, are set to become home to the Spaniard, who has been at Arsenal since 2020.
Mikel Arteta will lose one of his four assistants, and there’s no doubt that Cuesta will be sorely missed.

Carlos Cuesta dubbed Ben White ‘world-class’
Arsenal fans want Santi Cazorla to replace Cuesta, who will become a history-maker in Serie A as the league’s youngest ever manager.
Still only 29, it’s remarkable to think that the Spaniard will be managing in one of Europe’s top five leagues so soon into his coaching career, but it’s a testament to his hard work and passion.
Cuesta’s passion was seen in action during Amazon Prime’s All Or Nothing documentary, as Arteta’s number two sat down with Ben White to analyse the right-back’s game.
During the segment of the documentary, Cuesta spoke with such admiration for the defender, doubting that any opponent could get the better of him.
“You have all the potential to be a world-class player. When I see you defending, I say, ‘Wow’. How many players in the world can anticipate like you? I would say nobody!”
White is adored at Arsenal following his transfer from Brighton in 2021, and it’s fair to say that the Englishman will miss Cuesta around Colney.
For every member of the Arsenal squad, saying farewell to the Spaniard will be painful, but he won’t represent the only exit in North London this summer.
White’s future has been speculated
After months of speculation, Thomas Partey is expected to leave Arsenal at the expiration of his contract, despite the Gunners wanting the Ghanaian to stay.
Arsenal will look at replacements for Partey, but the midfielder isn’t the only one whose future is uncertain.
It’s understood that White’s future is something to watch, as growing competition within Arteta’s squad could limit the Englishman’s game time.
During last season, White was warned by Jurrien Timber’s growth in the starting XI, and now, it’s difficult to see how anyone could usurp the Dutchman.
Given how much of an admirer Arteta is of White, it’s incredibly difficult to envisage the fullback leaving the Emirates anytime soon, but in football, stranger things have happened.
