Arsenal earned bragging rights over Tottenham in the North London Derby at the Emirates.

Tottenham’s wait for a win at the Emirates was extended as Arsenal beat Spurs 2-1 to win the North London Derby.

As expected, it was an action-packed meeting between the two sides, with some controversy that didn’t please Spurs fans.

A Dominic Solanke own goal and a Leandro Trossard match-winner saw the three points remain in N5, handing Mikel Arteta a much-needed victory.

Trossard won the game however, the fixture saw several Arsenal players claim hero status, including teenager Myles Lewis-Skelly.

Lewis-Skelly wrote himself into North London Derby history by starting the fixture at just 18 years old, dominating the game at left-back.

The youngster’s rise has pushed the likes of Riccardo Calafiori, Oleksandr Zinchenko and Kieran Tierney further from the frame however, the latter did get to experience possibly his last North London Derby.

Tierney was substituted on in the 77th minute and deployed on the left wing where he almost set up a goal with his first touch.

The Scotsman earned high praise for his cameo, with one Arsenal transfer target actually reacting to his display on social media.

Arsenal have shown interest in Takefusa Kubo of Real Sociedad, Tierney’s former teammate, who sent the defender a three-word message in reaction to the win.

“What a pass,” Kubo wrote on Instagram under Tierney’s celebratory post, with thousands reacting to the Japan international’s well-wishes.

Many would like to see Kubo arrive at the Emirates in the near future, being a goalscoring right-winger who continues to charm those in the Basque Country.

Kieran Tierney expected to leave Arsenal

Tierney and Kubo played together at Sociedad however, the chances of the duo reconnecting at the Emirates are rather slim.

The Scotsman is likely to leave Arsenal, either this month or in the summer, with transfer interest building.

Celtic want to sign Tierney to lure him back to his boyhood club, seeing his Arsenal exit considered an inevitability at this moment.

Tierney impressed in the North London Derby and had fans hoping that he will stay but, such seems to be an impossibility as the defender seeks regular game time.
